Happy Holloween!

It's the end of October month and it's halloween too! So, Happy Halloween everyone! May you have a scary one, hehehe.

The kids of my employers are attending a holloween celebration in the neighbor and then their going to go to the houses in the neighborhood for a trick or treat game. Hmmmm, I never heard about this one in my province. I only knew about it for the first time in Denmark. My employers said that Halloween celebration was only started 5 years ago here and they said that mainly for business purposes. Stores are trying to create it to sell all those halloween costumes and candies.

A pen for a thought

I just remember all the expensive pens I saw in a bookstore during my vacation in Pinas last year, after stumbling upon an online store that sells all kinds of pens. I went to Cebu to accompany my cousin,Analyn, in filing her au pair contract in the Danish consulate. Her brother was also with us. The crew who entertained us instructed us to photo copy all the documents in 3 sets, so we went to National bookstore nearby and had all the papers photocopied. While waiting for the our turn to be entertained, we roam around the bookstore. The display of pens caught my attention due to it's very high price. It was the first time in my life to see a single pen that costs 6,000+ pesos.Ohhh my!Who's going to buy it?

I think I'm just being ignorant about all the expensive pens. But I know that a lot of people outthere, especially the big time businessmen and all the high ranking officials are using expensive personalized pens, much more expensive than the ones I saw in the mall.

Page Rank 3

Hurrahhh!I just want to brag about my Page Rank for this blog and I just can't believe that it goes straight from PR0 to PR3. First, it was my alexa ranking that decreases (a good sign) and now it's my PR.I'm having this blog for almost 7 months now and within that period, the PR has always been 0. Just like any neophyte blogger, I'm wishing for of a PR of atleast 1, as long as it's not 0. But last week, the effort of blog hopping and trying to blog well pays off as my PR0 turns to PR3.

I first saw the PR changed in my PPP account. I'm constantly viewing the standing of my blogs there and I was really very happy to see the PR3 for Around d' World. To make sure about my PR3 standing, I checked my PR once again at Google PageRank Checker this afternoon and whoahhhh it's really confirmed that my PR is really at number 3. Another reason for me to smile!:)

Actually, I'm so happy with all the PR of my blogs. I also checked the PR of my other blogs to make sure about it. my Julai's Corner is now PR4 and my own domain, Tidbits and More, is also having a PR3. Even my newest blog, Strong and Healthy Living is also having a PR3 and even my abandoned blog at Bravejournal, Julai's Undertakings is in PR4. And now, I'm having a 2nd thought of activating it again for paid post purposes, hehehe.

Thanks Google for being so kind to my blogs. All the increasing PR means more opps for me.Hurrah!

Classy furnitures

I'm really impressed with all the furnitures I saw at Furniture From Home. They're all classy and fabulous.
If you are looking for a certain home furniture for your home, then Furniture From Home is the best place to go. They have all kinds of furnitures for your home like home office furniture, dining room sets, bedroom sets, living room furniture and many more. Just visit their site at www.furniturefromhome.com for a detailed information about all their furnitures.

The picture above is an oak captains bed and it really catches my attention because it's very appropriate for bedrooms with limited space, just like the bedrooms we have in the Philippines. The bed is also very practical with all the closets attached to it for clothes and other personal stuffs.

If you are planning to purchase a new furniture for your home, it's a nice idea to pay www.furniturefromhome.com a visit.

My decreasing alexa ranking

Yeheyyyyy!Atlast, my alexa ranking for this site has decreased big time, from 7 million plus to 3 million plus. Here's the exact number:

And it's already confirmed because it's also the same information posted in my PPP profile for this blog.

I'm really happy about this because Alexa ranking goes like this: the lesser the number, the better. I have been constantly looking at the alexa ranking everytime I visit this blog, but the number (7 million plus) has remained constant for months, while my alexa in Julai's Corner is constantly decreasing and it's now in 1million plus. And finally, the alexa figure in this blog had changed last week. Hurrah! And I hope that it will keep on decreasing.

Saturday night

As I mentioned in my earlier post about last friday, we had fun singing and dancing that night. And the fun continues on Saturday night with the same things, plus wine drinking! ohhh ohhh. We continued the fun as a farewell party for my cousins who will be going back to Denmark It was an all-girls gathering and everyone has fun. We made a lot of things that only craxy girls can do,hehehe. But don't worry coz it was just a clean fun and nothing immoral,:).

And of our friends, Ate Ging2x, who joined us last Saturday brought a liter of Tanduay 5 years. She requested one of her friends to send her a package coz she usually drink a glass during winter. But we consumed the wine in just one evening and another friend of ours came later in the evening with a bottle of Red Martini and a red wine. All bottles were emptied and we became wilder as the night progresses. We also talked about a lot of things : family, friends, jewelries, guys (hehehe), future and all other topics that girls love talking about,:). One we had a good laugh as one of our friends suddenly blurted out about wine coolers in the midst of our serious conversation,:). I think she mentioned about it because she wants to drink the wine cold. Some of the girls passed out and some didn't. And I was one of the lucky ones who didn't,:).

We slept late, but my best and I woke up early. We accompanied my 3 cousins to the bus terminal for their trip back to Denmark.

Spiral staircase if Musei Vaticani

After watching in awe all the art display at the Vatican Museums, we entered Sistine Chapel. It's just a small room, but ambiance is really different. And the artworks in the ceiling were also amazing. I just can't believe that I was inside the chapel when I only read about it and it's name in books. I'm really glad to be inside the Sistine Chapel, it's a bog blessing for me. Thanks GOD. However, I don't have photos because it's not allowed to take photos inside the chapel. I observed that a lot of people were taking pictures, but I didn't dare because I'm scared to be caught by the guards and besides, it's the rule, so I have to stick with it, especially that I'm in Vatican City.

We exited Musei Vaticani to fall into another long line to gain entrance into St. Peter's Basilica. And we made our exit passing the Spiral staircase of Musei Vaticani. It's really an amazing structure and we just can't help to take photos,:).

Taken from the top by yours truly. Ate Cath and Arlene are visible in the photo.

Taken by either Ate Cath or Arlene. and there's me, very tiny, hehehe.

Up close and personal at the Spiral staircase.Oppss with my signature pose once again, hehehe.

Hurrah! It's friday once again and I'm here in Ate Eves' place with my cousins and more friends will be coming later tonight. We went to Holmenkollen, the ski jump here in norway this afternoon and we just walked the hilly road for more than an hour. It was really fun coz we've been telling jokes through the entire trip. But we decide to take the train on the way back because it was already dark and we're already tired and it was already very cold too and we're already freezing.

We were very hungry and Ate Eves made excabecheng manok and it was really yummy! We also made pancit because it's also Vilma's 24th birthday today. Vilma is one of my cousins from Denmark. We talked about going to the disco tonight, but we're not yet sure about it. We already started singing almost an hour ago and we're really having fun here. They're really good singers and I think I'm the only one who is a monotone in this room, hahaha. And they're always laughing everytime I sing, hahaha. I don't care as long as they'll give me the microphone.hehehe.

More updates later!

Wedding invitations

Opps, don't get me wrong! I'm not talking about my own wedding invitations here, hehehe. I just want to share you a memory during my 2-month vacation in Pinas last year.

I went home last November 2006 until January 2007 and it was very timely because one of my bestfriends was scheduled to walk the aisle on December 25. I was really very excited and the excitement doubled as she told me that I'll be part of the entourage,:). I have 2 bestfriends since childhood, Nesty (whom I call Toyang) and Bhing and they are both my cousins in the maternal side. Nesty is a civil engineer and she's the one who got married last Christmas. Bhing is a Food Tech graduate, but she's also here in Norway working as an au pair and worked for 2 years in Denmark, just like me.

Well, back to the wedding. Nesty asked me to help her in making her wedding invitations and I gladly agreed. She's working in Cebu, so I visited her in her apartment and stayed there for 2 days. The wedding was held in the Chapel in our barangay. We worked together in making the invitations and her future hubby also helped us. We personally shopped for the materials in making the invitations (papers, ribbons, etc.) and we used her own printer in printing the invitations. She already had a pattern on how the invitations should look. The motiff was pink, her favorite color.

On my first night on her apartment, she should me the layout on the computer and I was shocked as I saw my name as the Maid of Honor. I didn't expect it. I thought that I'll be one of the brides maids, since she has a younger sister and assumed that it would be her little sissy that will be the Maid of Honor. I told her that her sissy might be offended, but she told me that she didn't care coz she want me to be her Maid of Honor, :). Howw touching!

So we started to make the wedding invitations, but we had all the materials and starting to print the night before I'm going back to Bohol. We're already panicking since I have to bring the invitations with me when I come home. Fortunately, we were able to print 20+ pieces before tha ink ran out. And we're very happy and satisfied with our work because it turned out as what my bestfriend want it to be. I took the finished invitations with me and they took the rest as they came home 1 week after.

Here's a photo of my bestfriend's wedding invitation, taken by yours truly:

Proud of our work, :). Isn't it beautiful?

Inside Musei Vaticani atlast

This post will be all about our experience inside the Vatican Museums. After hours of waiting and queueing in a very longggggg line, we finally made it to Musei Vaticani, the public art and sculpture museums in the Vatican City, which display works from the extensive collection of the Roman Catholic Church. Pope Julius II founded the museums in the 16th century. The Sistine Chapel and the Stanze della Segnatura decorated by Raphael are on the visitor route through the Vatican Museums.

We were really amazed upon entering Musei Vaticani. It was full of beautiful artworks by historical figures such as Michelangelo, Raphael, etc.
Before the series of photos inside the Vatican Museums, let me share first a photo of mine before we entered the Museum. I managed to get a photo with the Museum's name on the background while in the queue. I'm suppose to post it in my entry about our queue to Musei Vaticani, but I was not able to find the photo. Finally, I found it minutes ago, so let me share it to you:

and here are the series of photos inside Musei Vaticani:

at the Gallery of Maps. The ceiling is really amazing!

The Gallery of Maps: topographical maps of the whole of Italy, painted on the walls by friar Ignazio Danti of Perugia, commissioned by Pope Gregory XIII (1572–1585). This gallery is situated at the west side of the Belvedere Courtyard. It is 120 m long. It took Ignazio Danti three years (1580–1583) to complete the 40 panels. The decorations on the vaulted ceiling is the work of a group of Mannerist artists (such as Cesare Nebbia and Girolamo Muziano).

Closer look of the ceiling of Gallery of Maps.Amaxing, isn't it?

Another amazing artwork in the ceiling.

I think it's enough with the pictures, as not to tire and bore you,:). I hope that you're glad to see parts of the Musei Vaticani. Oppss wait for a while, one last picture with my signature pose (hand on my hip, hehehe) inside Musei Vaticani,:)

with my signature pose,:). My friends are telling me that it's my signature pose because I do it most of the time. And I think I'm going to agree because it's true, but I'm not doing it intentionally.

Happy viewing everyone and hope you enjoy the photos.

Telebisyon is back

Yeheyyyyyy, telebisyon is finally back! It's the entertainment site where I watch pinoy teleseries and other filipino and english movies. But 3 weeks ago, telebisyon was down (I already blogged about it in my previous posts) and I was really bored and sad coz I don't have any form of entertainment anymore. Ate Lutchi also asked me about the site because she can't also find the site.

One of my friends last weekend told me that she can still view teleseries and movies in Telebisyon, so we checked the site and I figured out that the site was changing into a new URL that's why I can no longer access it. I'm glad and my entertainment site is back. No more lonely and boring nights for me! The new Telebisyon URL is : http://telebisyon.spreebb.com.

Happy viewing everyone!

girl talk

My 3 cousins are still here in my apartment, but I'm going to bring them to my friend's place tomorrow. My friend's employers are off to the US for 2 weeks, so I'm going to bring my cousins there, so they easily go to Oslo city for a cheaper cost.

We just finished our dinner and we are having a girl talk here. They are walking inside the apartment (to digest the food), while I am sitting and blogging. We are talking about different topics such as our family, friends, our au pair work, our future, lovelife and more. We also talked about jewelry because we are planning to buy a set in the future. I'm really planning to buy a set for party purposes because I don't like to wear it constantly. I have a pearl set, but I only wore it once during the wedding of my bestfriend last December 2006.

My next au pair job

My au pair job here in Norway is about to end next year. Though it's still a long way to go, but I'm already thinking where to go next. My original plan is to go home to Pinas and try to look for a job that's related to my course. But due to the financial crisis in our country, my plans changed. I think I have to work for more years abroad before finally coming home for good.

Spain might be my next destination. most au pairs here go to Spain or Canada after their contract, but maybe I'll choose Spain because I don't have to spend a dime in going there. I mean, I don't have to ask a help from an agency as long as I can find a hostfamily prior to going there. If ever I'll be assisted by an agency, the cost is cheaper compared to the cost in going to Canada, which will be around 20,000+ Norwegian Kroner.

Early next year, I'll already start looking for hostfamilies in Spain through the au pair sites in the net and I'll try to look for a hostfamily in Madrid. I want to work in Spain's capital city, if possible and explore it during my free time. I've already made some research in the net about Spain and it's capital, and so far, so good! There are a lot of beautiful things, buildings, landscapes and tourist spots to see. Several hotels in Madrid were also featured in the sites that I visited and other related hotel news.

I'm really excited about what's about to happen next year, but I already lift everything up to God and so, it's all up to Him on where I'm going next. I'll keep you posted about it!

Longggggggg queue at Musei Vaticani

Hi everyone! Here I am again about my summer vacation 2006 in Italy. All sets of pictures posted in my earlier posts were taken during our first day. And photos from our 2nd day ( July 8) of sight-seeing will start from this post. And our 2nd day was devoted in exploring the Vatican City, the main reason why I wanted to go to Rome.

We woke up early in the camping site and off to Vatican City! Our 1st stop was the Musei Vaticani (Vatican Museums). We were so shocked because upon our arrival there were already very longgggggggg queues on each side of the Vatican Museums' entrance. We decided to queue at the right side and after several minutes, a woman asked us if we were also in a group tour, ohhhh ohhhh...We were on the wrong line!Grrrrrrrr. The line on the right side was only for people in groups. They had walkie-talkie and other hearing paraphernalia and guides were entertaining them. So we transfered to the very longgggggggggg line at the left side of the entrance. Glad that the woman came to us in a short while, so we didn't queue in the wrong line for long. But before the woman approached us, we decided to sit on the pavement while waiting for our "supposed" turn and took pictures! What else would we do while waiting!,:)

with Arlene at the wrong queue,:)

Still with Arlene, but already at the right queue!Hurrah!

That's all for now and you also have to wait a little bit longer 'til we get into the Musei Vaticani after the very longgggggggggg wait!:)

Popcorn lover

Yes!!!I am a popcorn lover and it's known to all my family and friends!:) I just can't forget the first month of my stay in Denmark. I arrived in November 2004 and my hostfamily took me to Tivoli (like Enchanted Kingdom in the Philippines) and we took some rides. It was my first time to ride a Ferriz Wheel, hehehe.

Before trying another ride and touring the other part of the amusement park, my hostfamily bought a big box of popcorn. So we all ate and their 4-year old daughter took another ride and the popcorn box was given to me. I was enjoying the sightseeing, as well as the popcorn at hand and my hostfamily realized that I just love to eat popcorn, hehehe.

And so, everytime my female employer watches movies with a bowl of popcorn, she always makes sure that I also have my share of the popcorn, :). They're really very nice to me and she's even thinking of buying a popcorn machine to make it easier for us to make popcorn because we're just doing it with the microwave oven.

And I just missed my very nice Danish hostfamily and Denmark itself upon watching the video, to the point of wanting to cry. If given the chance, I want to be working with them for years coz they're really treating me as their eldest daughter. I really miss the Seeberg-Schiermer Family!

Here's the Denmark is beautiful video:

And I agree, Denmark is really beautiful. That's why I keep on coming back there, though I'm lready here in Norway.

You Are a Carousel

You are young at heart and a truly playful person. No one would ever accuse you of taking life too seriously.
You are definitely in things for the fun. You find joy easily, and you are often building up anticipation for your next adventure.
In relationships, you tend to want to be babied and taken care of.
And while you may be a bit high maintenance, you are incredibly loyal.

Your life is simple and satisfying. Each day you treat yourself to something you enjoy.
You have a lot of emotional attachments, and experiences are extra vivid to you.
You tend to be nostalgic and sentimental. The past is important to you.
Comfortable around all living things, you have a special connection to animals and children.

At your best, you are whimsical, free spirited, and creative.
Even if your schemes seem a bit strange, they usually work out wonderfully.
At your worst, you are spoiled, demanding, and impossible to satisfy.
You've been known to act like a brat if you aren't getting your way!

hmmm,it seems like it's really describing me,hehehe!

Piazza del Popolo

Piazza del Popolo was the next and last stop for the day, right after Piazza di Spagna and the Scalinata. We toured the place with our Argentinian Amigos and Tiyo Raul was in fact reading to us a piece of history about the place from his huge book about Rome. Click here for more information about Piazza del Popolo.

It was already dark when we reached the place and we didn't stay for long because there was a pour out few minutes after we reached the Piazza. Good thing and nature has given us enough time to take pictures,:). And after the quick picture taking, we hurriedly ran towards the Metro Station and find our way to the camping site for a good sleep.

Another "Scandalicious" pose @ Piazza del Popolo.

A thumbs up for Rome on the 1st day of touring around!

reading while travelling

Yess, I always bring a book or novel with me or any reading material when I travel because I want to read while travelling instead of sleeping during the entire trip. When I went to Turkey for a vacation with my hostfamily in Denmark, I brought my Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix book with me.

Even when I go out during weekends, I still bring a novel with me and read it while taking the bus. But then, I already stopped bringing novel during weekends since my friends complained about it. They don't want it because if I'll have novel with me, I'll just disappear from their site and stay in one place reading the novel and can no longer participate in their conversation. So they already told me that "me reading a novel on a weekend is a no no".

I really love to have a lot of books, novels, informative magazines and other reading materials because that's what I missed when I was still a child. We don't have a lot of books at home because my parents can't afford to buy those things. There are still more important things to buy that books. But despite the sad fact, it didn't hinder me to continue my love for reading, my ultimate hobby.

8 facts about me

Atlast, I'm doing the tag I received from my blogger friend, Pepe and I'm really sorry for the very late action. I'm really ashamed! I visited Pepe's blog last day and look for the tag under the September post, but I didn't find it, so I left a message and gave me the link. I visited the link just few minutes ago and I really felt ashamed because the tag was dated July 22. So it means that this tag is already 2 months overdue. Grrrrr..

The Rules: Each person should post the rules first before their lists, then they should write 8 things about themselves, tag and link 8 other people and then let those people know that they had been tagged so they will know what to do.... Here's my answer Pepe and once again sorry for the veryyyyyy late action :

1.) I havn't read fairy book stories like Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty when I was a child because we don't have it. My parents can't afford to buy them and we don't have it at school too. Poor me!

2.) I am left-handed and I use the spoon with my left hand too since childhood. It was only after my college graduation that my Mama forced me to learn using the spoon and fork the right way. But until now, I can only use a spoon with my right hand if I'll also use a fork with my left. But if there's no fork on the left, I can't. So the spoon will always be with my left hand.

3.) I am a Papa's girl and my brother is always jealous at me because my Papa always favor me, even if I'm wrong.hehehe. If my brother and I quarrels, Papa will always tell my brother to stop quarreling at me, though it's my fault. So my brother's always mad at me. :)

4.) I only had one doll in my entire life and I got it as a gift from my Tiyo (Mama's younger brother). He was still in Manila and working as a Military and plan to go home on Christmas. So I sent a letter to him (I was still in grade 3) and ask for a doll. I really took good care of the doll and make some dresses for it. Until my college days, I displayed it at home. But to my disappointment, Mama gave it to the daughter of her bestfriend without asking me. After knowing about it, I went ballistic because I really cherished it a lot. I just hope that it's still ok until now because I'm planning to give the girl a new doll and ask the old one back.

5.) I'm a late bloomer and that's what my brother and my friends say too. I only go to discos during my high school when it's a school activity and should go home at 12 o'clock because Papa is always waiting for me. And it was only after college that I got to go to parties and discos with friends. And I am the oldest in the group, the rest are my cousins who are in high school and college.

6.) I'm not good in Mathematics since childhood. I excel in class, but I always get average grades in Math. And in my college days, I almost failed my Calculus, huhuhu. I did a removal exam just to pass. Poor me!! I just don't know why my brother and I are not good in Math when Papa and Mama are good in it. Hmmm, we didn't inherit the "Math" genes, hehehe.

7.) I wanted to become a doctor since childhood to help the poor. And I wanted to become a Doctor-to-the-barrios. But all plans were changed after the death of my beloved Papa on 2001. But it's ok coz I now realized that I don't have to be a doctor to help the needy. I'll help them in some other ways.

8.)I am very open to my Mama and I'm telling her everything, even my lovelife. And most of the time, my brother gets irritated because I'm telling Mama even the nonsense stuffs, heheheh.

Hurrah, I'm done with the tag atlast. Thank a lot Pepe for passing the tag to me. Just feel free to make the tag guys, if you feel like doing it ans just inform me about it.
